One from Damien:
Hey there !
Say, I was just thinking about plot ideas, and while watching some cutscenes from games I used to play, I kinda thought of this one :
What about a group of people who are convinced that the Darkspawns actually are the superior beings, the thing to which people must aspire : they would consider the Blights as their versions of the Exalted Marches, and the Taint as a sort of blessing, allowing the members of that new species to act as one body and "become a part of somehing greater" (trademark). Darkspawns, after all, do have some neat feats : no need to eat, quick healing, instant, species-wide telepathy... the fact that blighted land is mortal to other living beings while Darkspawn can perfectly survive on clean earth, could be interpreted as a form of superiority. Likewise, ghouls, rather than victims, are beings that have been enhanced and accepted by the Taint, making them full-fledged members of the horde.
The logic is that Darkspawns are led by beings who, after all, used to be gods, until the introduction of the Maker : they were the ones to teach magic to the Tevinters, and it would not be out of place to consider them more potentially friendly to humans than Thedas' latest deity. The core point of this cult's beliefs is that Tevinter mages haven't corrupted the golden city, but rather enhanced it, with the Old Gods' guidance (which is why they still call to all darkspawn to come and taint their faces), producing a breed of stronger beings. In the eye of this cult, all the chaos, cannibalism and self-destruction present in common darkspawns is not relevant, because the emphasis would lie on the hivemind aspect rather than individual comfort, not unlike the Qunari.
They could have a joining ritual much like the one of the Wardens, in which drinking Darkspawn blood would be a symbolical way of joining with them; and sensing their presence, being sensed by them, would be their way of becoming a part of them. They could undergo some magical ceremony or whatnot, that would allow them not to be perceived as ennemies by the Darkspawns.
No wonder, then, that they would see the Grey Wardens as ennemies : especially since the ranks of the old gods are growing thin, which means the number of remaining crusades are counted. Maybe the relative weakness of the Fifth Blight could be a sign of this cult gathering its own forces in order to prepare another push...
I was actually thinking about meddling with orlesians trying to screw Alistair as king, maybe Anora trying a coup d'etat if Alistair didn't have her secretely executed, and Damien's idea of some sort of nut cult... I like it. That way we can have at least two or three 'main' long plots, what do you think? He even offered to bunny the 'dumbo jumbo' as he called them.
As for the rest, I know nothing yet
