Character Name: Calliara (Cal-ee-ar-a) Mahariel. Her name means War Song. She is also called The White Wolf, a nickname that was given by her Dalish clan, the Sabrae.
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Race: Dalish Elvhen
Class: Rogue
Specializations: Ranger (Archer) / Bard
Favored skills: Archery
Hobbies: Singing, playing instruments, exploring, animals, improving her reading skills, (and secretely, sex)
Background: Calliara is the daughter of the former Keeper of the Sabrae Dalish clan (Theron) and a huntress (Lyna) from the Dalish clan of the Arainai. Her father was killed by shemlen before she was born, and her mother abandoned her right after giving birth, so she was raised orphan and nameless by Ashalle. By the time she was six years old, the clan was ambushed by human slavers, and when the warriors and hunters were defending the women and children, the little orphan started to sing along Hahren Paivel while he sang the old war hymns that Dalish remembered. When the slavers were driven away, Keeper Marethari declared the orphan's name was Calliara, War Song.
Keeper Marethari tried for years to discover any trace of magic in Theron's daughter, but to her dismay, she found none. Calliara was unable to cast even the simplest spell, much to her own annoyance and shame, but exceeded in reciting the old hymns and tales that Hahren Paivel taught her, and in the ways of the Hunter. By the time she reached her teen years, it was clear that she was either going to become a ranger, a hunter or a guardian for her people. She passed her initiation at 18, as was custom, and had her vallasllin tattooed at 19, showing her devotion for Andruil, but she secretely has a weak spot for Mythal, due to her nature.
Short after having her vallasllin, her clanmate Tamlen and her were patrolling the forest when they found three humans fleeing for their life. They went to explore the cave the humans pointed at, even if she was sure they'd better warn the Keeper first, but she didn't want Tamlen to go in there alone. They found a mirror...
Two days later she woke up in camp and learned a Grey Warden had found her outside the cave, agonizing. The Keeper had been able to 'heal' her for the moment, but deep within, Calliara knew something was wrong. Faithful to her nature, she said nothing and took Merrill and Fenarel with her to explore the cave again and look for Tamlen. They only found Duncan, the Commander of the Grey Wardens, and darkspawn. When Duncan said the mirror had to be destroyed, Calliara agreed and stopped Merrill from stopping Duncan, and observed while the Grey Warden destroyed the foul thing.
Back in camp, while the funeral for Tamlen was being prepared, Marethari and Duncan told Calliara there was no cure for her, that she was infected by darkspawn taint and that she was going to die, slowly (or worse, change into one of them), and offered the only way to try survival: becoming a Grey Warden. Calm as always, Calliara accepted her fate, and the Grey Wardens welcomed her with wide arms.
At first it was difficult, living in Denerim, surrounded by shem and being the only woman among the Wardens, but as years passed, and due to the friendship she shared with Bowen and Gunnar, and her relationship with Duncan, she felt as if she had found her family at last.
Then, the Fifth Blight began showing its signs, and Duncan sent them away to Weisshaupt to deliver word about it and ask for reinforcements. That happened barely two months before the Battle of Ostagar, and only recently they have arrived to Ferelden. After meeting King Alistair Theirin in Denerim, Calliara and Bowen are traveling to Orzanmar to join the new Warden-Commander.
Personality: At first sight, Calliara is a cold, silent and calm person, always observant, studying everything around her. In reality, she is a caring, loving being that cares for everything and everyone, and is obsessed with controlling everything and making sure everything is as it should and everyone is doing fine.
Weapons/Armor: see below. She wears a full Grey Warden rogue armour (model from Legacy DLC from Dragon Age II), or in exceptional occassions, a Dalish armour. She uses a longbow (Far Song) and two curved elvhenan swords, or curved knives.
