So, I just went back to visit the old board to look something up and found that it's become 'active'. The adbots have finally descended on the old board.
I saw that. Kind of sad, really, they're like the rot of old, unactive forums. Anyone here still has some administrative rights ? The place sure could use a good sweep.
We'll take that to mean we can shanghai you with impunity.
The essential thought we had regarding activity and the like is that things become too hard to move forward or manage when too much of the plot relies too heavily on one storyline (a linear story that everyone is involved in) and on one or a few characters. When that happens, everything becomes forestalled when one person can't post, and everyone else becomes stuck, unable to move forward in that one plot because of those few characters. Any interest or momentum that we do generate is lost.
To that end, we were thinking of a few things that might help some things out, and work with everyone's various schedules:
- Multiple storylines and settings, involving more of the world. A less linear plot that doesn't requires all characters to be in the same space.
- A more clearly defined plot, keeping all characters on the same page as to the direction of the story.
- Allowing for more side-stories, one-on-one adventures, and tangential adventures to run with the "main" plot.
- General overhaul of characters, as needed/desired, in order to make more/spread-out stories work.
- Maybe a more solid mix of DAO, DA2, and DAI-based stories and characters? (A post DAI story would allow for the use of ALL characters introduced in/inspired by all three games, and give more freedom of an open-ended plot [since post-DAI story hasn't been explored/decided yet by the games].)
- The above allows for keeping the various Origins/Warden, Hawke, and Inquisitor in play as desired without relying to heavily on any one of them to move the plot along.
Chels/Margaid tells me that I'm being too wordy, which is probably true — I just wanted to make sure I laid everything I was thinking out on the table as clearly as I could, for everyone to pick at, discuss, mix and match, etc as they please.

I'd already assumed people were running or were involved in multiple storylines, personal side stories, etc.; Griffinhart just doesn't show up in most of them because he's a very... focused character.
(Hence, Zillam Reynardine. Though, admittedly, I never did actually put him into play.)

I was thinking that one reason we became stuck was we relied too heavily on a story and that maybe a solution was to have more random adventures that are faster paced but less structured with no completely-defined ending to have us working towards.
I personally liked when we had a chat box and had day-to-day adventures.
Ok I can agree very much with a post DA storyline using all of the characters we wish to continue on with. That would be a great idea. Now the question is how to start this out and what do we want the base plotline to go towards? There was quite a few things at the end of the last game so maybe we can use something from that (dealing with stuff that gets out of hand in the future like the bloody religious stuff with our little red-head).
Sorry, I've had a lot of family stuff going on.
If anyone would truly wish to continue on with this then let's get working on it. Give me ideas, information and such and we can work this out.
Anyone hear anything from Calli? She's been awol for a long while. Longer than me
Oh and Lith, if you can do RSS and make it easy for us to use then I am so much for that!!!
I hereby formally express my general agreement with the statements and ideas delivered in this thread. Whatever you guys decide to roll on with, I hope you won't mind my sticking around. Because you'll have to deal with it regardless.
It's good to have you back, Nygozy ! Let's hope life gives you a break from time to time ! I haven't heard any news about Calli, but my faith doesn't waver.
Basically it will constantly look at the website you tag (I've tagged blogs, news sites, this form, a witchy form and few other things that I like) and it will notify you when there is a new post or any new activity.
I'm happy to set up a chat location as well. I will look into this.
Damien: You are always welcome to any forum I ever have going!
Lith: Thank you for the link. I have it on my Chrome now. There is a way to put up a chat on this forum but if you can find another way then please share it when you find one you think is workable for us. And moving? Gah bleh even when you want to move it sucks. Oy I feel for you!!
Griff: I'm hoping that we can get both of your guys in on the fun once we get things rolling.
Everyone:
An idea just came to mind and I would like to get your opinions on it.
* After the Inquisitor does their stuff * We assume that the Inquisitor, Hawke and the Warden know each other as Hawke and the Warden helped the Inquisitor since the time of going into the Fade. * There are many "fires" to put out after all of this including changing people's views of the wardens plus dealing with the other parts of the order. * Set up Leliana in the churches and deal with the aftermath. * Get rid of the real Bianca and let Ny handle Varric
Ok I'm sure the last one won't happen as Varric is so stuck on Bianca (even if we have her fall in boiling oil ... nothing personal as I do like her but oops) He'd always be caught up with her even if she were a ghost. Dagnabit but he's the first ever dwarf I've ever wanted my character to romance. Gah sucks.
I think that all sounds pretty fantastic! The plot is loose enough that it lets people go off and do their own thing, but solid enough that we're all on the same page with what the current scenario is - love it!
[Don't worry Nygozy - everyone will be your Varric-wingman. Bianca can't know EVERYTHING, can she?]
If I have any other concrete thoughts, I'll toss them in here. If you need any help setting things up, let me know!
Now, it's DA2's 5 year anniversary today, so I'm gonna go hop on my PS3 and play it!
